Mercy Corps, a global humanitarian organization, gave their website a refresh in 2018 and approached Blue State in 2021 to update their email templates to better align with the rest of their online presence. Where the updated website was clean and notable for it’s use of negative space and impactful photography, their emails were cluttered and dominated by shades of gray.

I created new templates for their standard emails and newsletter and a library of responsive components that the Mercy Corps team could execute in-house, primarily with HTML. There’s now consistency between the program and other branded deliverables through the incorporation of line work and overlapping elements. This refresh was also a means of introducing email design best practices and content strategy.
